Markets At The Courtyard

Last week the Shangri-La opened up its Heritage courtyard to the public and played host to a foodies delight. The annual ‘Markets at the Courtyard’ welcomed some of Sydney’s star chefs, including their own in-house talent to show off some of their creations.

There was a wonderful array of stalls showcasing the finest of Shangri-La’s offering, including Anna Polyviou’s amazing glazed donuts…

Yes, some of them are served with a Nutella filled pipette! There was famous N2 nitrogen gelato…

…and Instagram sensation Katherine Sabbath. These peanut butter and jelly choc fudge drumsticks were out of this world. I even managed to steal the recipe- I shall be trying these again 🙂 You can also find Katherine at other food markets around the city, keep an eye on her Instagram for updates (@katherine_sabbath).

Plus there were Hart’s beers and sampling plates from some of Sydney’s top Chefs – including The Rocks Teppanyaki by Kobe Jones and Shangri-La’s own Altitude Restaurant, Blu Bar and Shayan Quarter:

I started with a tiny portion of the salmon ceviche and edible pearls from ‘Altitude’. I have to say it was tiny but a wonderfully exciting mouthful.

I then experienced my first Baoger from ‘Shayan Quarter. A soft steamed bun filled with stewed goat and coleslaw.

My fave little butter-maker, Pepe Saya were there. There is no greater pleasure in life than its salted butter on soft white bread. Naughty but oh so nice!

Satisfied from my foodie fix of delicious flavours I continued on my journey around Sydney’s Vivid (hang tight for my next blog post- it’s a goodie).
